32,976 miles

As best I can figure, that’s how far she and I have travelled to see each other in the six months we’ve been together.

32,976 miles is enough to get around the widest part of the Earth 1.3 times, and we used it to soar back and forth over a small strip of the Western United States as often as we could get ourselves to an airport.

(In short: be jealous, because now I’ve got the greatest girlfriend in the world and elite frequent flyer status.)

As anybody who’s had to play the “being there without physically being there” game knows, it’s about a lot more than the times that flight schedules and the fates agree enough to let you share a weekend in the same zip code. It’s about the phone calls and the emails and the text messages and the surprises in the mail and the little ways that you find to remind someone that, but for the constraints of physics, your hand is always resting right there on their shoulder.

So, six months and a little more than a trip around the world into this thing, I’ll say “Happy Half-versary” right back at you, sweetheart.

What do you say we go around again?
